Health Education England's (HEE) Foundation Programme Review considered how the foundation programme could better support the drive to widen participation and ensure equal opportunity for anyone with the potential and desire to pursue a career in medicine. The report of the review, published in July 2019, made the commitment:

HEE will develop and consult on policy options to support Widening Participation initiatives for graduates entering the Foundation Programme

To take this committment forward, HEE is conducting a series of focus groups with Foundation Programme trainees in England, who have entered medicine via an undergraduate widening participation programme or identify as having social or protected characteristics that are under-represented in medicine.

If you wish to attend one of our Widening Participation focus groups in February 2020, we invite you to complete the following survey to register your interest. The sessions are scheduled for:

18th February 2020, 10:00 – 12:00 - Stewart House Events Centre, London, WC1B 5DN

20th February 2020, 11:00 – 13:00 - Sheffield Town Hall, Sheffield, S1 2HH

26th February 2020, 11:00 – 13:00 - Crowne Plaza, Birmingham, B1 1HH

27th February 2020, 11:00 – 13:00 - Novotel Southampton, Southampton, SO15 1RA

Please note, the 12th February focus group at the Stewart House Events Centre is now at full capacity, and is therefore closed for registation.

Upon registering your interest, we will contact you to confirm your place and provide further information about the focus group. Due to the limited spaces avaliable for each session, in the event that the focus group you have choosen becomes fully booked, we will contact you to confirm.



HEE will engage with a trusted third party company to facilitate the running of the focus group sessions. However, we will not share your personal data, collated from this survey, with any third party.
